Desire

I am here to tip the balance
I have come to break the wave
I’m the fretting of your heart-strings
When you need to misbehave
I’m the Devil on your shoulder
I’m a thirst you’ll never quell
I’m the twitching in your finger-tips
The tolling of the bell

I’m your first thought in the morning
I am poison on the rocks
I am sweet anticipation
Rattling your locks
Paw prints in your wet cement
The grinding of your gears
I am pleasantly distracting
I’m the ringing in your ears

And I might just be love
I might just be love

I am testing your resistance
I run rings around the sun
I’m the ever-willing target
For your trigger-happy gun
The song you can’t stop humming
I’m the bit between your teeth
I’m a cliché in a fur coat
With the naked truth beneath

And I might just be love
I might just be love

Sex before the watershed
Disturbance of the peace
I’m the lure of the forbidden
And the promise of release
Your hunger for adventure
Your voracious appetite
I’m your dirty little secret
I am heroin, I’m dynamite

And I might just be love
Maybe
Just might be
Could possibly be
Love

I’m a dream on the horizon
A disaster on the line
I’m the slow descent of longing
As it trickles down your spine

I’m the story you got lost within
The source of your frustration
Intrigue, mystery
Scandalous sensation
I’m the antidote to boredom
I will smash the status quo
I am Venus splayed and gift-wrapped
And tied up with a bow
Temptation tugging at your sleeve
The tapping of a nail
I’m poetry between the sheets
I’m coming off the scale

And I might just be love
I might just be love

I might just be love
Maybe
Just might be
Could possibly be
Love
