Word On The Street is a monthly series of spoken word events in the run-up to Hull's Freedom Festival, delivered in partnership with my friends A Firm of Poets and Word Life.  There will be a free writing and performance poetry workshop from 2-5pm on the day of the event - you can sign up for that, here.  Participants get to perform at the evening event!

Hollie McNish is a full-time poet who has garnered praise such as "Boundary Breaker" (Marie Claire) and "Incredible" (Huffington Post), as well as the comment from Benjamin Zephaniah: "I can’t take my ears off her."  She has played at numerous high-profile festivals, and in 2015, she won the Arts Foundation Fellowship in Spoken Word.

Zena Edwards was raised in Tottenham and has become known as one of the most unique voice of performance poetry to come out of London.  She was nominated for the Arts Foundation Award for Performance Poetry in 2007, and won the Hidden Creatives Award in 2012.

Really excited and hope you can make it!
